The latest world university rankings by Times Higher Education placed Maynooth University in the global top 100 universities under 50 years old again for the year 2018. Maynooth University was ranked at # 80 and evaluated for aspects like quality of research, scholarly papers and number of citations, reputation for teaching and academic research, Ph.Ds awarded and international staff and students. Moreover,two subjects at Maynooth- English and Geography, were ranked in the top 200 of QS World University Rankings by Subject for 2018/2019.
Maynooth was established as an autonomous university in 1997 and is known for its excellence in research impact and exceptional teaching. The university has more than 12,000 students including around 400 research scholars and 1600 postgraduate and professional students.
