Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has been ranked as Ireland’s best university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.
With an overall score of 57, TCD is placed 161st globally and is the only Irish university in the top 200. Trinity is followed by RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and University College Dublin in the top 250. According to THE Rankings released on 12th October 2022, Trinity performed excellently in International outlook with a score of 93.7, Research (47.3), and Citations (79.4).
Dean of Research at Trinity, Professor Wolfgang Schmitt, said: “Trinity is holding its position as the highest ranked Irish university in the 2023 THE World University Rankings. Our research performance is strong and continues to improve.
"I want to thank the Trinity community - students and staff - for their dedication and hard work. However, the underinvestment in the university sector in Ireland is reflected in high student/staff ratios, lower postgraduate/undergraduate student ratios and infrastructures, which adversely influence the overall ranking."
